Men's Volleyball: April 10, 2019
Three members of the Wells College men's volleyball team earned conference recognition as the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference all-conference teams and individual award winners were announced Wednesday, April 10. Caden O'Loughlin and Robert Patzer were voted to the first team and Josh Undari was voted to the NEAC second team.
This group of players led the way for a record-setting regular season for Wells College men's volleyball which established a single-season program record with 25 wins headed into this week's NEAC playoffs.
O'Loughlin, a junior from Louisville, Kentucky earned first team recognition for the second year in a row and is on the all-conference teams for the third-straight year after being named to the second team as a freshman in 2017. He earned six NEAC weekly awards during the 2019 season as player of the week for the weeks of Feb. 4, Feb. 25, and April 8 and defensive player of the week for Jan. 28, Feb. 18, and March 18. He ranked first in the NEAC in total kills and total digs, third in kills-per-set (3.91), aces-per-set (0.39), and hitting percentage (.300). He is fifth in digs-per-set (2.11). He passed the 1,000 career kills milestone earlier this season. Caden is majoring in computer science and mathematics.
Patzer, a sophomore from Syracuse, New York, earned his second career all-conference honor as he was on the NEAC third team as well as NEAC Rookie of the Year following his freshman campaign in 2018. He was NEAC Player of the Week for March 18 and Defensive Player of the Week for April 1 and April 8. Patzer ranked fourth in the NEAC in kills-per-set (3.2), fifth in total digs (207), and eighth in digs-per-set (1.83). He is 16th in the conference in blocks-per-set (0.43). Robert is majoring in business with a minor in computer science.
Undari earned a spot on the NEAC second team following a third team accolade in 2018 as a sophomore. During the 2019 season, Undari became the all-time assists leader at Wells and also passed the 2,000 career assists milestone. He was NEAC Player of the Week for March 4. Undari ranked third in the conference in assists-per-set (9.73) and third in service aces-per-set (0.39). As a team, Wells hit a .284 percentage with 1,502 kills in the regular season. Josh is from Manor Park, N.Y. and is majoring in economics and mathematics.
The NEAC all-conference teams honor the top 14 players in the league regardless of position. The first and second team are each comprised of seven players as selected by the conference coaches.
