"Awards Show Countdown": Women's Lacrosse

"Awards Show Countdown" is a Wells College Athletics feature that reviews a memorable moment from each team while counting down to showtime. With 2 days remaining until the virtual online Express Awards Show, let's take a look at a moment from the women's lacrosse team's 2020 season. The Wells College women's lacrosse team had its best display of offense on March 11 when the team scored 10 consecutive goals against host Salem College to break open a 4-1 game after making the long trip to Winston-Salem, N.C.

What made that March game memorable was not only the fierce run of unanswered double-digit goals, but how the team dominated at both ends of the field. The NEAC agreed and consequently bestowed both its offensive and defensive players of the week to Wells for performances in that contest.

Defensively, the team received solid goaltending for Kaylin Barbour, who stopped six of the nine shots sent her way. Also helping the team defensively was Kari Jensen with a team-leading five caused turnovers.

Offensively, Savanah Connors had the hot stick up front with six points. Connors would net five of the team's 18 goals.  Aiding the offense was Arika Mansfield, who had team-highs in groundballs with six and draw controls with five.
