Department of Athletics Announces Promotions of George, Kane
AURORA, N.Y.
– Patricia George and Dan
Kane have earned promotions in recognition of their
long-time service to Wells College and its student-athletes,
Director of Athletics Michael Borsz announced
early Wednesday morning. George will become the department’s
Aquatics and Fitness Center Director while Kane will assume the
title of Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities.
George, entering her seventh full year at Wells College, will
assume all responsibilities related to the Schwartz Athletic
Complex, including the Fitness and Aquatic Centers. She will also
instruct two Wellness courses as part of her administrative
responsibilities. George, who has served as the Head Coach of the
Wells College men’s and women’s swimming programs,
remains the school’s only two-time North Eastern Athletic
Conference champion coach after winning titles with both the
men’s and women’s teams.
The NEAC swimming chairperson since 2009, she also was named the
department’s Senior Women’s Administrator in 2010.
George is a 2004 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a degree in
Physical Education (K-12) and is currently the longest tenured Head
Coach in the department.
Kane assumes the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities title
with his promotion, supervising all of the department’s
athletic facilities outside of the pool and fitness center. He will
serve as a point person for all facilities-related issues and work
as a liaison to the Buildings and Grounds department.
The longest tenured men’s soccer coach in program history,
Kane has secured 27 victories for the team dating back to the 2009
season. His players have received a combined eight All-Conference
awards across four years and, most recently, his 2011 squadron
ranked 10th across all Division III programs nationally in save
percentage (.858) and 60th in saves per game (6.44). His 2011 team
also posted the most overall victories (8) and also the most NEAC
victories (5) in program history.
A 2005 graduate of Catholic University in Philosophy, Kane also
holds a post-graduate degree in Education with a specialization in
Athletic Leadership and Program Administration from Goucher
College. He has also served as the Wells College mixed golf coach
during his time at Wells.
