Baseball All-Conference Honors For Nolan, Kemp

Baseball All-Conference Honors For Nolan, Kemp

Two Wells College baseball student-athletes earned all-conference recognition as the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams and award winners for the 2019 season on May 8. Dylan Nolan was selected to the NEAC First Team and Zach Kemp earned recognition on the NEAC Second Team.

It is the third year in a row that Nolan has earned all-conference honors and his first time on the NEAC First Team. He was a second-team honoree in 2017 and 2018. During the regular season Nolan ranked third in the NEAC in slugging percentage and batting average, 10th in hits, and 12th in RBIs. He was the team's starting catcher. Nolan reached the 100 career hits milestone earlier this season and hit safely in 26 of 30 games on the year.

Starting pitcher Zach Kemp was elected to the NEAC Second Team for the second time in his career. He was also a second-team selection as a freshman in 2017. During the regular season Kemp ranked sixth in the NEAC in strikeouts per nine innings and second in innings pitched. He led the conference with 64 total strikeouts. Kemp has a 6-4 overall record in 15 appearances, making 13 starts. He has 66 strikeouts and 19 walks in over 74 innings of work. Kemp won three of his last four starts as Wells qualified for playoffs and was the winning pitcher in Tuesday's NEAC playoff first-round victory at Penn College.

This tandem has helped Wells to the best season in the three-year history of the program. Wells has already established program bests for single-season wins and wins within NEAC play. The Express will continue its run in the conference tournament in the double-elimination championship weekend beginning with a Thursday game at Keuka College.
