Strait Named NEAC Pitcher of the Week

North Eastern Athletic Conference Assistant Commissioner Peter Holehan admitted the selection for this week's pitcher of the week in the conference was one of the most difficult to make among all the NEAC players of the week selections, but Wells pitcher Jared Strait had one thing that the other nominees didn't – a school record.

Strait threw 14 strikeouts in the home opener for the Express in six innings of work and surpassed Brandon Shirley's now former record of 10 strikeouts against Elmira in March 2017. With Strait on the mound, Wells accounted for 17 runs that paved the way for first-year head coach Ryan Stevens' first win in a Wells uniform with an 18-3 final against Clarks Summit on March 3.

The Lansing native faced 25 batters and allowed a pair of hits while keeping the Defenders scoreless. Hours after being named NEAC Pitcher of the Week on March 9, Strait continued to thwart the opposition with seven innings of shutout ball against SUNY Oneonta to help the Express to back-to-back wins with a 1-0 victory over the Red Dragons.
