Express Run Rampant, Set Stolen Bases Record in 2-Game Sweep of Olivet

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Before the 2024 season, Express Head Coach Ryan Stevens had one word that he used to describe how he wanted to play this year; run. On Thursday night in Myrtle Beach, run is exactly what the Express did.

The boys from Aurora swept Olivet in a Thursday evening doubleheader at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, winning 10-5 in game 1 and 9-4 in game 2. In game 1, the Express caused havoc on the basepaths, sending runner-after-runner to the tune of 10 stolen bases and shattering the previous Wells record for swiped bags in a game which was 6.

Zack OdumAaron IzquierdoAj Campi, and Chris Mclean each stole 2 bags for the Express in game 1, setting themselves up favorably and powering the offense to a 3rd straight double-digit run performance.

Game 2 was more of the same, as the Express kept their foot on the gas pedal and rode their momentum to another victory. The win marks the 4th straight for the Express, who managed to get hot at the right time and leave Myrtle Beach with a lot of momentum. Those 4 wins also came in 3 days, a testament to the depth of this talented Express squad.

The Express head back north as spring break comes to a close. They return to action next Wednesday when they welcome Alfred for a doubleheader up at the Wells College Turf Complex.
