FIELD HOCKEY LOSES CLOSE GAME

Aurora, New York – The Wells College field hockey team saw a 1-0 lead slip away as Morrisville State College scored two unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Express 2-1 Wednesday at Wells. Adrienne Tomao (Walton, NY) scored the lone goal for Wells while Lauren Bondonaro (North Tonawanda, NY) had a goal and an assist for the Mustangs.

Tomao put the Express on the board late in the first half as she was able to drive home a shot off a foul in the offensive zone. Wells entered the half outshooting the Mustangs 7-2 and 5-2 in penalty corners.

It did not take long for the Mustangs to tie the game as Jennifer May (Rochester, NY) scored off a pass from Bonadonaro to tie the game 1-1, just five minutes into the second half. The Mustangs would drive home the game winning shot with 12-minutes left in the game as Bonadonaro put home a goal on a scramble in front of the net to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead. The Mustangs outscored the Express 7-1 in the second half.

With the loss the Express fall to 3-12 while the Mustangs improve to 5-12 on the year.
