RAINED SOAKED EXPRESS DOWNED BY HAWKS

Aurora, New York – In a rain soaked game, the Wells College field hockey team (3-11) could not put a goal on the board as the SUNY New Paltz Hawks (3-12) shutout the Express 2-0 Saturday at Wells. The Hawks were led by Lauren Nicomini (Newton, NJ) and Alyssa Finck (Hudson, NY) who each had an unassisted goal. The Express were led by goalie Beth Cereo  (Port Biron, NY) who finished with six saves.

The Hawks got the scoring started when Nicomini found her own rebound and stuffed it by Cereo for a 1-0 lead at the 19 minute mark. Finck would extend the lead to 2-0 , four minutes into the second half, as she had a dove at a loose ball in front of Cereo and tipped it in for the goal.

The Hawk finished with nine shots and 18 penalty corners, while the Express finished with three shots and five penalty corners.

The Express will next play Morrisville State College at home on Wednesday, October 29, at 4:00 pm.
