Field Hockey Improves to 3-0

Morrisville, NY- The Wells College Field Hockey team tied their win mark from last year defeating Morrisville State College 2-1 on Thursday afternoon in Morrisville. With the win Wells improves to 3-0 on the season.

Elisabeth Rollo (Aurora, NY) netted the first score of the contest at 14:01 to give Wells the early 1-0 lead, connecting on a rebound shot off Morrisville State keeper, Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY) for the score.

Morrisville State evened the contest late in the first half, with a goal from Lauren Bordonaro (North Tonawanda, NY) off a scramble in front of the cage with just over a minute remaining in the half. Erin Kellum (Morrisville, NY) earned the assist.

Playing to a 1-1 tie, Wells forward Paige Corneby (Barton, NY) beat second half keeper, Sarah Snow (Camden, NY) on a fast break at 60:19 for the game winning score.

Morrisville State outshot the Express 12-9 but were kept scoreless in the second half as Wells College keeper Beth Cereo (Port Byron, NY) recorded the non-conference win, saving five.

Field Hockey will return to action on Wednesday, September 10 here at home against Keystone college starting at 4:30 pm.
