CORNEBY NAMED SAAC STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Freshmen Paige Corneby, of the Field Hockey Team, has been named the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athlete of the Week (SAOW) for the week August 30-September 6th. .  

Corneby, a native of Barton, NY, attended Tioga High School where she played field hockey, basketball, track and was also on the cheerleading team.

Off the field Corneby is currently undeclared at the moment, but is hoping that she will eventually be a veterinarian. "Right now my favorite class is Wells 101. The teacher knows how to teach the course extremely well and I understand most of the material," said Corneby. She also enjoys spending her down time hanging out with her friends.

On the field Corneby currently leads all scorers with seven points. Although the season is still extremely young Corneby has had an impressive 21 shots, 18 of which have been on goal. She also helped lead the Field Hockey team to 3-0 start, notching two game winning goals in the process.

"Playing Field Hockey I have learned so much, how to control the ball more, and how important being on a team is. It's helped me lead a healthier life style and manage my time much better."

Corneby and the rest of the Field Hockey Team will play next at home against Ramapo on Saturday, September 20, at 11:00 am.
