FIELD HOCKEY ROLLS OVER BAYPATH

AURORA, N.Y. - The Wells College women's field hockey team exploded for five goals in the Express' 5-0 rout of the Bay Path College Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Avary McKinney (Rochester, N.Y.) led the way with two goals while Courtney Grosser (Penfield, N.Y.) added one goal and one assist for the Express. With the victory the Express improve to 3-3 on the year while the Wildcats fall to 0-4.

Kweita Holmes (Frederick, Md.) and Elisabeth Rollo (Geneva, N.Y.) each tallied a goal while Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.) added an assist to round out the scoring for the Express.

McKinney gave the Express a quick 1-0 lead scoring less than five minutes into the start of the game. The score held well into the first half until the Express took advantage of one their nine penalty corners on the day. The initial shot off the penalty corner would trickle wide of the net but, Grosser picked up the loose ball and fired a shot that McKinney tipped in the goal for her second of the afternoon.

Holmes put the Express up 3-0 just before the end of the first half. Battling the defender on the left side of the cage, Holmes won the battle and sent a push shot to the far right post for the three goal lead.

Grosser added the Express' fourth goal in the 59th minute. Fargnoli fired a shot that Grosser redirect high over the goalies shoulder for a 4-0 lead. Rollo put the finishing touches on an impressive day for the Express, finding the back of the goal for the fifth and final goal in the 64th minute.

Wells outshot the Wildcats 17-0 and held the advantage in penalty corners 9-3.

The Express return to action on Tuesday when the they travel to take on Keystone College at 4 p.m. in La Plume, Pa.
