Field Hockey Scores First Goal Of Season At Houghton

The Wells College field hockey team scored its first goal of the season in a 13-1 loss at Houghton College on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Wells trailed 10-0 after the first half, and came alive in the third quarter with six shots and the first goal of the season. Hannah Koerner scored for Wells, assisted by Whitney Coleman off of a penalty corner. In the attack, Caitlin Lawrence forced a defensive save from a Houghton player, and Coleman collected the rebound and passed to Koerner for the goal. The Express outscored Houghton 1-0 in the third, and the Highlanders scored three times in the fourth quarter.

Wells goalkeeper Sabrina Burns had 15 saves.

The Express is back in action Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Geneseo.
