Five Wells Seniors Honored Prior to Mustangs’ Game

The Wells College field hockey team honored five seniors prior to the start of its game against visiting Morrisville on Sunday, Oct. 6. The Mustangs beat the Express by an 8-0 score on the heels of Grace Hanehan, who was in on every Morrisville goal but one.

Wells College athletics director Michael Lindberg read a description of each senior that focused on their contributions to the team and athletics program over the course of their years with the Express. The "Fab Five" were introduced numerically and included: No. 2 Caitlin Lawrence, No. 3 Chloe Marcus, No. 5 Abigail Gilson, No. 6 Whitney Coleman and No. 8 Alyssa Rocas.

Offensively, Coleman led the Express with a pair of shots. Defensively, Sabrina Burns registered 17 saves on the afternoon. Morrisville held an edge in penalty corners at 15-1.

The field hockey team will conclude its three-game home stand by hosting Hartwick College on Wednesday, Oct. 9 with a 4 p.m. start.
