Nine Field Hockey Team Members Selected to National Academic Squad

Just one week after announcing Wells College as the No. 4 ranked academic field hockey team in Division III, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its Field Hockey Division III National Academic Squad.

With the team criteria set at a 3.0 Grade-Point Average (GPA), the stakes were raised for individual selections at 3.3 or higher with nine members of the Wells College field hockey team being selected to the 2019 NFHCA National Academic Squad.

Those Wells College student-athletes include: Sabrina Burns, Abigail Gilson, Hannah Koerner, Caitlin Lawrence, Chloe Marcus, Nikki Michaud, Cassandra Ninbi-Yobo, Danielle Radivoy and Sadie Sheffler.

While the Wells College field hockey team members combined for a 3.69 GPA to reach the fourth-best team total nationally, of the three schools that had a higher team GPA than Wells, only one (Middlebury) had a higher percentage of rostered players to make the National Academic Squad.

Wells finished its 2019 season in the championship game for the North Eastern Athletic Conference title.
