MEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKEND GAME PREVIEW

Aurora, N.Y.– The Wells men's basketball team will continue the second half of their NEAC schedule as they travel to Utica, N.Y. on Saturday (Feb 6.) to take on the SUNY IT Wildcats at 3:00 pm before heading off to Cobleskill, N.Y. on Sunday (Feb 7.) to take on the Fighting Tigers at 1:00 pm.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: WELLS EXPRESS (13-5) AT SUNYIT WILDCATS (14-4)/SUNY COBLESKILL (6-12)

Wells has won nine of its last ten games, including three straight, while taking an overall record of 13-5 into play on Saturday against SUNYIT. In just their second season, the Express are on the cusp of tying their win total from last year at 14. Wells is coming off a record setting 114-88 win over Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday, while completing the season sweep of Keuka College with a 90-61 victory on Wednesday.

Over the last 18 games the Express have scored at least 80 points in eleven games, while outscoring their opponent by an average of 19.6 points over their last ten games. As a team the Express enter play ranked 12th in Division III in scoring offense (83.4), 11th in field goal percentage (49.8), and second in assists per game (19), while ranking first in the NEAC in all three categories.   

Individually, four different players are averaging double figures for the Express, Darrell Bullock (19.8), Greg Jones (14.5), Juan Paulino (14.1), and Rionn Pradia (11.8). Nationally, Paulino's 14.8 rebounds per game rank second in Division III, while ranking fourth in Division III in field goal percentage (68.3) and 12th in blocked shots at 2.6.

The Wildcats enter play at 14-4 having won eight of their last nine games; their only loss coming at the hands of the Express in an 80-78 heart breaker back on January 10th. The Wildcats most recently defeated SUNY Cobleskill 68-54 on Saturday, January 30th.

As a team the Wildcats are averaging 75.7 points per game, while being led by reigning NEAC Player of the Year David Golembiowski who is averaging a conference leading 21.1 ppg to go along with 10.2 rebounds per game.

The Fighting Tigers enter play at 6-12 coming off a 68-54 loss to SUNY IT on Saturday, January 30 and a 66-59 loss to Morrisville State on Wednesday. In their only meeting of the season the Express rolled over the Fighting Tigers 81-54 back on January 9th.  The Fighting Tigers are led by Damon Franklin who is averaging 15.9 points per game. Cobleskill will take on Keuka College on Saturday (Feb 6.) before welcoming Wells to campus on Sunday (Feb 7.)
