LAY-UP SINKS EXPRESS IN FINAL SECONDS

Aurora, NY– Morrisville State College's Andrew VanDyke (Bronx, NY) converted a lay-up with four seconds remaining to lift the Mustangs to a 72-71 upset victory over Wells College Wednesday night in Morrisville. Darrell Bullock finished with a game high 18 points, while Jarrell Williams chipped in with 15 points to lead the Express. The loss snaps the Express' six game winning streak.

Wells College held the 32-31 advantage at the half, but the second half proved to be a back and forth battle as the lead would change hands 13 times.

The Express would take the upper hand 71-69 with 1:49 remaining on a jumper by Greg Jones. But the final 90-seconds would prove to be fatal, the Express would miss a lay-up and commit two turnovers, as the Mustangs squeaked by shooting 1-4 from the free-throw to go along with VanDyke's lay-up that proved to be the winning shot.

The Express finished 31-58 from the floor, an uncharacteristic 3-16 from behind the arc, while reaching the free-throw line just nine times (6-9).

Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) led Morrisville State with 17 points and eight rebounds, as teammates Ron Tarver (Utica, NY) and Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, NY) each added 14, with Tarver and Sneed combining for 23 in the second half.

The Express return to action on Saturday, January 23 to take on NEAC rival Keuka College at 1:00 pm at Keuka.
