FIRST HALF PROPELS WILDCATS PAST EXPRESS

(Utica, N.Y.)─ The SUNY IT men's basketball team jumped out to a 17-point lead after the first half, propelling the Wildcats to a 78-65 victory over the Wells College Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening in Utica. The loss drops the Express to 3-9 (3-3 NEAC), while the Wildcats improve to 6-7 (5-2 NEAC).
 
Mabior Mayen led the Express with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Terry Harrison added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assist.
 
David Golembiowski became SUNYIT's all-time scoring leader finishing with a game high 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. Kevin Cappiello added 17 points, six assist, and six rebounds, while Calvin Logins chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds and five steals.
 
SUNY IT shot 56 percent from the floor in the first half while holding the Express to just 28 percent as the Wildcats would build a 17-point first half lead (43-26). The Wildcats continued to roll in the second half as the Express would only get as close as eight points the rest of the way.
 
The Express return to action on Saturday when they travel to Reading, Pa. to take on the Penn. St. Berks Nittany Lions. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
