Men's Basketball Winning Streak Stands At Three

The Wells College men's basketball team outscored SUNY Cobleskill by 18 points in the second half and ran its winning streak to three games with a 67-58 victory at SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday, Dec. 4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Wells remained perfect in NEAC play with a 3-0 conference record and the Express is 4-1 overall. Cobleskill is 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the NEAC.

Wells trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, when Cobleskill led 33-20 with three minutes remaining in the first half. Wells trailed 35-26 at halftime.

Cobleskill held a 42-34 advantage in the second half, but Wells scored the next eight points to tie the score at 42-42 with 12:32 left to play. From that point,

Rich Ross scored 18 points, with 17 of those coming in the second half, to lead Wells in scoring for the third game in a row. Ayodele Akinmola scored 16 points and James Feocco added 15. Akinmola finished with 10 assists and three steals. Feocco was the leading rebounder for Wells with 11 boards.

It is the second time in program history that Wells has started NEAC play with a 3-0 record, which the 2013-14 team also accomplished. The team's 4-1 overall record is the best-ever start through five games.

Wells will play Tuesday at Ithaca College, and then close out the first-semester portion of the schedule with a home game Thursday against RIT. The Thursday game is re-scheduled from a weather postponement on Nov. 21.
