Men's Basketball Falls In NEAC Opener

The Wells College men's basketball team lost 76-61 at home against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Four players scored in double figures for Wells as both teams opened their North Eastern Athletic Conference seasons.

Wells led 11-7 after the opening seven minutes of the game. Cobleskill answered with a 27-8 run to take control. The Fighting Tigers led 37-23 at halftime.

Cobleskill outscored Wells by one point in the second half. Jalen Tribble had 10 of his team-leading 18 points for Wells in the second half. Tribble led Wells with eight rebounds and had two blocked shots and a steal. Freshman Dylan Frost scored eight second-half points and had a career-best 10 points in the game. Frost added five assists and five rebounds.

Rich Ross scored 12 and A.J. Nesci had 11 points. Wells was 5-for-20 in 3-point attempts and had 22 turnovers.

Cobleskill is 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the NEAC. Wells is 1-4 with an 0-1 record in the conference.

Wells will play a non-league game Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Ithaca College at 7 p.m. followed by a NEAC home game Thursday, Dec. 6 against Keuka College.
