Ithaca Holds Off Wells Men's Basketball Rallies

The Wells College men's basketball team went on the road and put forth a strong comeback effort before eventually falling by an 82-73 score at Ithaca College on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Ben Light Gymnasium in Ithaca. The Express rallied from a 17-point deficit in the first half and trailed by single digits for most of the second half.

Ithaca jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the opening five minutes and the lead grew to 17 with 9:33 remaining following a 13-3 run for the Bombers. Wells came back and pulled within 10 points at halftime as the Express trailed 41-31.

Wells got off to a good start in the second half. A stretch of five consecutive points from Tyree Fisher brought Wells within 43-36. The Ithaca lead fluctuated between seven and 11 points for most of the second half. The closest Wells got was a six-point deficit following a free throw from Jalen Tribble. Ithaca's largest lead was 18 points before Wells again rallied and lost by nine points.

Rich Ross scored 23 points and Jalen Tribble added 15 for Wells. Ross and Tribble have scored in double-figures in all six games this year for Wells. Tribble had nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Ross had eight rebounds and made 5-of-9 3-point attempts.

Wells committed 22 turnovers and Ithaca turned it over eight times. The Bombers held a 43-33 rebounding advantage.

The Express is back in action Thursday, Dec. 6 with a 7 p.m. home game against North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Keuka College.
