Men’s Basketball Team Begins 2020 with NEAC Road Win

The Wells College men's basketball team rallied in the second half on the road to defeat Gallaudet University by a 67-54 score on Saturday, Jan. 11 The Express trailed the Bison by five points at halftime, but came on strong early in the second half to take control of the game and register the NEAC Conference victory.

Wells needed just over four minutes of the second half to catch Gallaudet and tie the game at 34 after a Cameron Boon layup. That started a 10-0 run and allowed Wells to take the lead for the rest of the contest.

In a two-minute span, Boon, Jalen Tribble and Jalen Feliz accounted for 10 points with Feliz netting the final five, while the defense played stout without allowing a point. Wells got its lead as high as 16 in the final minute before a late three by Gallaudet cut the final margin of victory to 13 points.

Feliz co-led the team in scoring with Keian Montero. Each had 14 points with Feliz's totals coming from the bench that included a pair of threes. In all, 10 Express players found the scoresheet with Tribble recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.

A half-dozen points came from three players that included Zach D'Arpino, Ty McBride and Izaiah McPherson. D'Arpino sank a pair of threes, while McPherson added a pair of blocks.

Boon finished with four points and three came from Anthony Nesci, who also registered a team-high four assists. Rounding out the scoring was a pair of points each from Quentin Battle and Jahlil Nougues.

The men's basketball team remains on the road with another NEAC matchup tomorrow afternoon at Lancaster Bible College with a 12 p.m. start.
