Men’s Basketball Team Plays Spirited Second Half Against Ithaca

The Wells College men's basketball team came out recharged for the second half against visiting Ithaca College on Tuesday, Jan. 28 in a non-conference matchup. Wells was just one-point shy of matching Ithaca's second-half total of 47 with 46 second-half points by the Express.

Unfortunately, the team's second-half spirited play couldn't undo an uncharacteristic flat first half that combined with 24 points from threes from the Bombers led to an 89-59 final in favor of the visiting team.

The Express deserved a better fate in the second with some impressive numbers that were all better than the Ithaca's. Wells shot 44 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 91 percent from the free-throw line.

The latter total mostly came from Keian Montero, who scored all of his team-high 13 points in the second half from the charity stripe. Also with 13 points was Dylan Frost, who for the second time in as many contests had the team's highest point total – although this time shared -  and highest number of rebounds. Against the Bombers, Frost finished with seven boards.

Joining Montero and Frost with a double-digit scoring performance was Jahlil Nougues with 10. Nougues also notched a team-high four assists, as did Quentin Battle. Jalen Feliz led the Express in steals with three.

The men's basketball team next hosts SUNY Poly on Wednesday, Jan. 29 with a 5 p.m. start.
