Men's Basketball Drops Season Finale At St Mary's

Wells College men's basketball played their final regular season game at St Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks edged out the Express, 81-77.

After last night's win over the Gallaudet Bison. The Wells College men's basketball team secured a playoff spot in the United East Conference Tournament!

Today, however, the Express had to get through St Mary's which proved to be a difficult task. Earlier in the season in Aurora, NY, the Express took down St Mary's by a score of 81-79. The Seahawks clearly did not forget this loss and came out in the first half taking it to the Express. They held the Express to 27% shooting from the field and 17% from 3-point land. The Express also had 6 turnovers which helped contribute to them being down at halftime, 36-23. St Mary's came out in the second half and continued to build their lead all the way up to 21 points. Wells College would not go away quietly, Terrance Clayton-Murphy hit back-to-back 3s forcing a time-out from St Mary's. Ty McBride and Terracne Clayton-Murphy would continue to hit big shot after big shot and no matter what the Seahawks threw at them, Wells College would not go away. With 30 seconds left, The Express was only down 1 point (75-74). After two free throws and a McBride layup, the Express were still down 1, and need St Mary's to miss some free throws. Unfortunately, Wells would eventually fall on the road.

Next Friday, the Express will head to Lancaster Bible to take on the Chargers in the first round of the United East Tournament at 5 PM!
