CAZENOVIA DEFEATS EXPRESS

Cazenovia, N.Y.- The Cazenovia College men's lacrosse team scored a season-high 18 goals Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Wells College Express, 18-8, in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. Dan Munsell and David Kaus finished with two goals, while Dan Hunt had three assists and one goal to lead Wells.

The win marks the second of the season for the Wildcats, who are 2-9 overall and 2-3 in the league. Wells fell to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in conference with the loss. 

The Wildcats drew first blood when Shaw found Mellon just less than four minutes into the first quarter to give Cazenovia the 1-0 lead. Wells scored two goals minutes later to gain a 2-1 advantage but, the Wildcats went on to outscore the Express 4-1 to end the period. A 6-2 second quarter in favor of the home team had the Wildcats up at the break, 11-5.

Cazenovia gained some separation in the third quarter by adding four goals, including two from Pakkala. Holding a sizeable lead, the Wildcats dictated the tempo in the fourth to their advantage and came away with the win.

The Wildcats outshot the Express, 58-28, for the contest and picked up 50 groundballs in comparison to Wells' 38. Cazenovia won 17-of-30 face-offs and was successful on 21-of-22 clears.

The Express return to action on Saturday afternoon against Mt. St. Mary's College at 4:00 p.m. in Aurora, N.Y.
