MUNSELL LEADS EXPRESS IN LOSS TO FIGHTING TIGERS

(Cobleskill, N.Y.)─  Dan Munsell (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) finished with a total of four points in the Wells College men's lacrosse teams 21-9 loss to the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Cobleskill, N.Y. Munsell finished with three goals, one assist, while also scooping up four groundballs in the Express loss. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 6-7(4-2 NEAC) while the Express fall to 3-7 (1-4 NEAC).
 
Forrest Lambert (Aurora, Colo./Overland) finished with a game high 11 groundballs while also totaling three points on two goals and one assist for the Express. Kylan Hallett (Basom, N.Y./Akron) chipped in with two goals, Jonathan Mulcahey (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) scored one goal and tallied nine groundballs, while Dan Schilling (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) finished with one goal to round out the scoring for the Express.
 
Peter Gonzalez paced the Fighting Tigers with 12 points (7 g, 5 a) and Jeff Fichtner finished with eight points (3 g, 5 a), highlighting a total of eight scorers for Cobleskill.
 
Cobleskill raced out a to 4-1 lead in the first quarter but unassisted goals by Mulcahey and Lambert pulled the Express back to within one (4-3) with a little over one minute left in the quarter. Fichtner extended the Fighting Tiger lead scoring with five seconds to play in the first, giving Cobleskill a 5-3 lead heading into the second quarter.
 
The Fighting Tigers continued to press the defense of Wells, scoring five straight goals to open up the second. Hallett put two goals on the board less than a minute apart for the Express but, Cobleskill ended the quarter with four straight goals, entering halftime with a 14-5 lead.
 
Despite two more goals from Munsell in the third quarter, the Fighting Tigers continued to find the back of the cage and held a commanding 20-7 lead entering the final quarter before holding on for the 21-9 victory.
 
Tom Knezick (2 saves) and Scott Anthony (8 saves) combined for a total of ten saves in goal for the Fighting Tigers with Knezick earning the win in net. Express goalie David Kaus (Erie, Pa./N.W. Collegiate) finished with seven saves in the loss.
 
The Fighting Tigers held the advantage in shots (50-37) and ground balls (64-35) while finishing 29 of 34 on the face-off.

 The Express wrap up their season at home on Monday when they take on Morrisville State College at 4 p.m. in Aurora.
