MEN'S SOCCER LOSES BATTLE TO MEDAILLE

Aurora, New York – Despite heading into halftime tied at zero, the Wells College men's soccer team could not hold off the Medaille College Mavericks as the Express were defeated 3-0 Tuesday at Wells. Alenader Rouse, David Philblad, and Kendall McFayden all scored for the Mavericks who improved to 9-5-0 with the win. With the loss the Express fall to 3-7-2 on the year.

It was a hard fought game that featured four yellow cards, two for each side, and 18 total fouls. Although the Express defenders were able to keep Medaille at bay for the first half, the second half did not have the same outcome. The Mavericks got the scoring starting eight minutes into the second half, on a goal by Rouse, and fifteen-minutes later the Mavericks had added two more goals by Philbad and McFayden to give Medaille a 3-0 edge with 24 minutes left to play. The Express would pressure the Medaille defense much of the day, but had only squeezed off three shots by the end of the game.

The Express will next play at home against Hilbert College on Friday, October 17, at 3:30 pm.
