MAVERICKS SCORE EARLY DEFEAT MEN'S SOCCER

Buffalo, NY – Down 2-1 at the half, the Express watched as the Medaille College Mavericks rattled off six unanswered goals, going on to defeat the Wells Men's Soccer team 8-1 Wednesday night in Buffalo.  Nick Accordino scored the lone goal for the Express while senior Mike Birklin (Cicero, NY) finished with 10 saves in net. With the loss the Express fall 0-4 on the season while the Mavericks improve to 3-0-1.

The Mavericks got on the board early scoring 27-seconds into the game for the 1-0 advantage. Huggins would respond just five minutes later as he would find the back of the net on a feed from Delroy Roberts tying the game at 1-1.  Nick Cavalieri (Tonawanda, NY) would put the Mavericks ahead for good as he scored with seven minutes remaining in the first half to give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

Alexander Rouse (Marcellus, NY) finished with three goals and Cavalieri  added two goals and an assist as five different players would go on to score for the Mavericks who outshot the Express 46-8 in the game.

Wells will look to bounce back on the road when they travel Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday, September 12 at 2:00 pm to take on the Crimson Eagles in Langhorne, PA.
