MEN'S SOCCER ROUTS COBLESKILL

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's soccer team finished their season on a high note, shutting out North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent SUNY Cobleskill by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Blasdimil Gomez (New York, N.Y./Buxton), Patrick Sodums (Candor, N.Y./Spencer Van Etten), and Patrick Arancio (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) all scored, while J.P. Rosas (Spencer, N.Y./Ithaca) added an assist to lead the Express. With the victory Wells ends their season at 5-9-3 (3-4-2 NEAC), while the Fighting Tigers finish at 4-12-1 (1-7 NEAC).
 
On a day that honored four Wells seniors, it was only appropriate that one of those senior's─ Blasdimil Gomez get the scoring started for the Express. Battling on the left side of goal in the Fighting Tigers end, Gomez made a step over move past his defender and fired a shot past Cobleskill goalie Mack Curran (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) for a 1-0 Express lead.
 
The Express continued to overpower the Fighting Tiger's defense, this time Rosas drew the defense down low on the left side of the goal and sent a pass back through to the middle of the 18, finding Sodums who delivered a shot to the back of the net for a commanding 2-0 lead that would hold heading into the second half.
 
Arancio put the finishing touches on an impressive day for the Express, scoring on a loose ball with 14 minutes to play as the Express cruised to the shutout victory.
 
Express goalie C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa./Western Wayne) finished win one save to earn the shutout in goal, while Curran finished with eight saves for the Fighting Tigers. For the game, Wells held the advantage in shots 21-3 and corner kick 8-3.
