CAZENOVIA SLIPS BY EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to the Cazenovia College Wildcats in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon in Cazenovia. Gregorie Ducasse (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) scored the game winning goal with less than three minutes to play in the first overtime to lead the Wildcats. J.P. Rosas (Spencer, N.Y./Ithaca) scored the lone goal for the Express, while Aaron Brody (Commack, N.Y./Commack) finished with nine saves in the loss. With the win Cazenovia improves to 4-8-1 (4-4-1 NEAC), while the loss drops the Express to 4-9-3 (2-4-2 NEAC).
 
The two squads played a hard fought, evenly matched, first half with neither team finding the back of the net for the first 45 minutes. Cazenovia held the slight advantage in shots 9-8, while the Express controlled the corner kicks 4-3.
 
The second half produced the same hard fought play. The Express would strike first as Rosas scored on an unassisted goal at 64:53 to give Wells the 1-0 lead. The score held late into the second half but, with less than six minutes remaining in the game, Robert Rohrig (Ludlow, Vt./Black River) tossed a throw-in into the box, finding Logan Spaulding (Copenhagen, N.Y./Copenhagen), who headed the ball into the net, tying the game at 1-1, sending the game into extra time.
 
The Wildcats finished the come from behind victory in overtime as Ducasse beat his defender and fired a shot to the low post past Brody giving Cazenovia the 2-1 victory.
