GLASSMAN PROPELS EXPRESS OVER D’YOUVILLE IN OT

(Buffalo, N.Y.)─  Senior Cody Glassman (Thornhurst, Pa./North Pocono) snapped a 0-0 deadlock, scoring 6:28 into overtime, as the Wells College Express men's soccer team defeated the D'Youville College Spartans 1-0 in the fourth game of the two day Queen City Classic held by Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y. With the victory the Express improve to 2-1, while the Spartans fall to 0-3 on the young season.

The Express controlled much of the first half holding the advantage in shots on goal 5-2 and corner's 3-2 but were unable to find the back of the net as both teams entered the break scoreless. The second half was a defensive battle as both teams managed just one shot on goal and one corner kick each.

The Express offense reemerged in overtime firing five shots in less than seven minutes, while not allowing one offensive shot from D'Youville.  It would be Glassman's goal on a feed from Delroy Roberts (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) in the 96th minute that would top off a dominant overtime period for the Express, who bounced back from 3-0 defeat to 25th ranked Medaille College less than 24 hours before.

Despite being held scoreless for the first 96 minutes, the Express held a sizeable advantage in shots 17-8 and corners 6-2, while holding the Spartans to just three shots on goal. Freshmen C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa./Western Wayne) earned the win in net for the Express, while Matt Smith (Wellsville, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) suffered the loss finishing with eight saves.

The Express hit the pitch next against Sage College on Wednesday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.
