Express Blanked By Pitt-Bradford, 1-0

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Despite firing 24 shots, the Wells College men's soccer team fell to the Panthers of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford by a 1-0 score Saturday afternoon on the campus of Keuka College. Following the non-conference contest, both teams' overall records stand at 1-1.

The Panthers scored the lone goal of the game 6:03 into the second half as Colton Bly sent home a feed from Meleki Wamulume that eluded the grasp of Express goaltender C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.). Entering the second half, the Express maintained strong offensive pressure, as both Jonathan De La Cruz (Woodbridge, Va.) and Levi Christman (Sharon Springs, N.Y.) each fired off shots that missed high. The Panthers, however, converted their first shot attempt of the second half to take the lead.

Cumulatively, the Express outshot their opponent by a 24-to-7 margin and had eight corner kick opportunities opposed to the Panthers' zero. Freshman midfielder Tyler Morris (Maryland, N.Y.) led the team in shots with four shots. Sophomore midfielder Charles Naula (Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) led the team with two shots on net.

Bayly (1-1) drew the loss, despite making five saves on six shots on net. For the Panthers, Adam Forster (1-1) posted the complete game shutout and made 11 saves while not allowing a goal.

The Express return to action this Wednesday, Sept. 5 as they host the Hawks of Hilbert College in a 5:00 p.m. contest at the South Athletic Field on the campus of Wells College.
