Morris' First Career Strike Nets Express 1-0 Victory

AURORA, N.Y. –
Freshman midfielder Tyler Morris (Maryland, N.Y.) potted his first career goal as the Wells College Express posted a 1-0 shutout victory over the Hawks of Hilbert College Wednesday afternoon at the South Athletic Field. With the victory, the Express improve to 2-1 on the year while the Hawks fall to 1-2 overall on the season.

Following a Hawks throw-in, the ball was headed out of the box by a Hilbert defender. The ensuing rebound spilled on to the foot of Morris, who took two strides forward and unleashed a bullet that eluded the grasp of Hawks goaltender Jeremy Kraska at 69:29 of the contest. The unassisted goal marks the very first career point for Morris.

With the victory, the Express have posted four-straight victories over the Hawks. The last goal scored by Hilbert against Wells came in a 2-1 loss to the Express on Oct. 1, 2009.

The Hawks held a 5-to-4 shots on goal advantage, but Express goaltender C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) turned aside all five shots on goal that he faced for the seventh shutout of his career. Kraska drew the loss, allowing one goal on four shots on net.

The Express return to action Saturday, Sept. 8 as they host the Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks in a 12:00 p.m. contest.
