AURORA, N.Y. – Defenseman Luke Miller's (New Hartford, N.Y.) overtime goal lifted the Wells College men's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime victory over the Saxons of Alfred University Wednesday afternoon at the North Athletic Field. With the victory, the Express move to 4-3 overall following today's non-conference tilt. The Saxons fall to 2-5 overall on the year.

Following two scoreless regulation frames, Miller's fourth career goal came only 2:38 into the overtime period. A Wells College midfielder sent a ball up toward the left side of the field where Miller maintained possession. After breaking away from the Saxons defender following several deke moves, Miller sent a cross toward the right post into a cluster of Saxons defenseman. With the Express player near the left post upended, the ball caromed off of an Alfred defenseman and into the vacant net past goaltender William Badger.

The goal was Miller's fourth career strike – with two goals this season, he has tied his season-high mark of two set during the 2011 campaign. Additionally, the overtime victory for the Express at home was their first dating back to Nov. 3, 2009, a 1-0 blanking of Morrisville State University.

Express goaltender C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) earned his third shutout of the season in net, tying the all-time program record of nine shutouts set by Mike Birklin who blanked opponents nine separate times from 2006 to 2009. In today's game, Bayly turned aside all six shots on goal that he faced. Badger drew the loss, entering the game in the second period and turning aside three of four shots on goal. The game's starter, Matthew Unick, halted all three shots on goal in the contest before yielding to Unick in the second half.

The Express return to action Saturday, Sept. 22 as they face-off against the Bison of Gallaudet University in a 1:00 p.m. contest in Washington, D.C.
