Bayly, Fahey Lift Express To 1-0 Victory

MARCY, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Trevor Fahey (West Deptford, N.Y.) scored the game's only goal in the 75th minute as the Wells College men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats of SUNYIT Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Express collect their seventh overall victory (7-4) and improve to 4-3 overall in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Wildcats overall record stands at 6-6 following the defeat while their conference mark falls to 3-3.

Fahey's first collegiate goal came at 75:07 of the game to elevate the Express to a 1-0 lead which they would not relinquish. Fahey placed a shot on net that deflected off of a Wildcats defender in the box, evading the reach of SUNYIT goalkeeper Malick Faye (6-6). Fahey's goal, the second and third points of his career (1-1=3), was scored unassisted.

Express goalkeeper C.J. Bayly (Waymart, Pa.) extended his program record career shutout total to 11 by turning aside all 10 shots on net that he faced. Bayly now has five shutouts on the season and has only allowed one goal across his previous 318:23, a span of just over three games. Faye allowed one goal on four shots on net as the Express were outshot by a cumulative 22-to-5 margin.

The Express return to action Tuesday, Oct. 9 as they face-off against Utica College in a 7:00 p.m. tilt.
