Fahey, Sowersby Elevate Men's Soccer vs. Pitt.-Bradford

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – First half goals from senior Trevor Fahey (West Deptford, N.J.) and sophomore Hunter Sowersby (Sidney, N.Y.) paced the Wells College men's soccer team in their 2-1 victory over Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday to conclude the Keuka Lakefront Classic. With the victory, Wells improves to 1-0-1 on the year while Pitt.-Bradford falls to 0-2.

Sowersby picked up his first collegiate assist in the 29th minute after feeding a ball across the slot to Fahey, who successfully scored his second goal in as many seasons against the Panthers. Sowersby's first goal of the year came just under three minutes later as he picked off a clearing attempt by the Pitt.-Bradford goalkeeper and chipped the ball home from 35 yards out.

Meleki Wamulume cut into the deficit for Pitt.-Bradford in the 69th minute, converting off of a pass from Brian Bao to shrink the deficit. The Panthers threatened in the final minute of play, taking advantage of a stopped clock, but a high shot following a corner kick in the final 10 seconds eliminated any chance of a comeback.

Wells goalkeeper Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) picked up the victory, halting five of six shots on net that he faced. Colin Frownfelter allowed two goals on four Wells shots, drawing the loss.

The Express will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. as they take on Medaille on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
