Sciotti Earns NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the third time this season, sophomore Michael Sciotti (North Syracuse, N.Y.) was tabbed as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after making 17 saves and earning a shutout against three formidable league opponents.

Sciotti and the Express fell to the Mustangs of Morrisville State on Wednesday, allowing only a penalty kick goal while making 10 saves in the loss. However, Sciotti rebounded nicely and blanked Bryn Athyn on Saturday, turning aside the lone shot on goal that he faced in a 1-0 victory for his league-leading sixth shutout of the year.

Making multiple game-saving stops against Penn St.-Abington, Sciotti made six saves against the Nittany Lions en route to his team's program-record ninth victory of the season. As an individual, Sciotti also picked up his eighth victory of the year to set the all-time program record for wins by a Wells goalkeeper.

Wells carries its 5-2 record against NEAC opponents into play on Saturday, Oct. 18 as they face-off against Cazenovia in a 3 p.m. road contest.
