Overtime defeat for Wells men's soccer at SUNY Cobleskill

The Wells College men's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to force overtime, but fell by a 3-2 score on the road at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Express is now 1-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference action. Cobleskill improved to 3-3-0 and 2-1-0 in the league.

The host Tigers scored two goals in the first half. Wells responded in the second half with two goals in the final seven minutes of the half. Christian Garavito scored in the 84th minute on an assist from Junger Vargas, which came on a cross from eight yards out. With 4:15 remaining in the second half, Curtis Davis scored the game-tying goal when the Cobleskill goalkeeper made a save, but Davis was on the spot to head in a rebound.

Cobleskill scored the game winner late in the first 10-minute session of overtime.

Wells had 12 shots in the game to Cobleskill's 21, and six corner kicks to eight for Cobleskill. Wells goalkeeper Owen May made seven saves.

The Express returns to action Sunday at SUNY Polytechnic Institute at 2 p.m.
