Jim Clementi Hired As Wells Men's Soccer Coach
Wells College has announced the hiring of Jim Clementi as the head coach for men's soccer for the Express. Clementi brings an extensive background in coaching and playing at the collegiate level, most recently as the full-time assistant coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a 2011 graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey.
"We are pleased to welcome Jim Clementi to the intercollegiate athletics staff here at Wells College. His demonstrated success in a variety of roles, his academic background, and commitment and passion to the game of soccer made him an excellent choice among a very-qualified field of applicants," Wells College Director of Athletics Mike Lindberg said.
For the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Clementi helped coach RPI to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, where the Engineers advanced to the second round, and the Liberty League playoffs in 2016. He assisted in on-field duties for games and training sessions, recruitment of student-athletes, fundraising and scouting.
He started his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, Ramapo College in the 2014 season.
Clementi has earned his National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Diploma.
At the club level, Clementi has most recently been involved with the Olympic Development Program of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association, the Greenbush Soccer Club in East Greenbush, N.Y., and New York Elite FC of Clifton Park, N.Y. The majority of his club work is with boys under-16 and under-17 teams and players.

Clementi is a native of New Jersey and graduate of Shawnee High School. He continued his playing career at Ramapo where in his four-year career he was twice honored on the conference's All-Academic Team and twice honored as an All-Conference selection. He was a three-year captain for the Ramapo Roadrunners.
Clementi's academic background includes earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Ramapo College and a master's in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University Irvine. Additionally, he taught three years of mathematics and computer applications at New Jersey high schools.
Clementi takes over the Wells College men's soccer program that has seen its winning percentage increase in each of the last eight seasons. Wells has made three consecutive trips to the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs. Clementi is the third coach in program history, succeeding Michael Paolini (2006-08 seasons) and Dan Kane (2009-16 seasons).
