Men's Soccer Begins Season Friday Versus SUNY Canton
The Wells College men's soccer team kicks off its 2017 season with a home game Friday, Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m. against SUNY Canton at the Wells Turf Field.
Wells returns three all-conference players from the 2016 team that advanced to the semifinals of the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs. Seniors Jim Duchesneau, Owen May, and Carlos Valdivieso are the returning All-NEAC honorees. The 2016 season was the third-straight year that Wells qualified for the playoffs, and the team's winning percentage has increased each year for eight straight years. Wells was 11-5-3 overall and 8-3-2 in the NEAC last year.
Wells was picked to finish fifth in the NEAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.
The 2017 season is the first under head coach Jim Clementi, who is assisted by John "Doc" Cook. Following Friday's opener, Wells continues with a match Sunday, Sept. 3 at Hilbert College.
