Penn College Rallies To Beat Wells Men's Soccer

The Wells College men's soccer team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference play and fell by a 2-1 score at Penn College on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Williamsport, Pa. Wells scored the first goal of the match but Penn College tied it in the first half and scored the game-winning goal with 6:41 remaining in the second half.

Penn College improved to 4-5-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference. Wells is 1-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference. Wells hosts Morrisville State College at noon Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Wells Turf Field.

Wells started fast and had two corner kicks in the opening four minutes. Sophomore forward Junger Vargas opened the scoring for Wells in the 16th minute of the match. He had a clear chance against the Penn College goalkeeper and shot into the bottom right corner for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Two minutes later, Penn College tied the score 1-1. The Wildcats scored the game-winner in the late stages of the second half.

Wells goalkeeper Owen May had five saves. Penn College outshot Wells 20-15. Each team earned six corner kicks.
