Cazenovia Holds Off Wells Men's Soccer

The Wells College men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Cazenovia College on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Wells Turf Field in Aurora, N.Y. The visiting Wildcats scored the only goal of the match late in the first half and held off a Wells charge in the second half.

Cazenovia improved to 7-6-0 overall, 3-3-0 in the NEAC and 2-2-0 in the NEAC North Division. Wells is 3-8-1 overall, 2-4-0 in the NEAC and 1-3-0 in the North Division.

The Wildcats scored with 5:11 remaining in the first half on a one-two pass from Juan Andrew Diaz that sent in David Andreasson for the close-range goal.

In the second half, Wells outshot Cazenovia 10-2. Cazenovia goalkeeper Tom Nicholls made four second-half saves and 11 in the game to earn the shutout.

Wells goalkeeper Owen May made five saves.

The Express had an overall shots advantage of 20-12 and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Junger Vargas had eight shots, and five were on target.

Wells is on the road this weekend at The College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Gallaudet University on Sunday, Oct. 22.
