Overtime Defeat For Wells Men's Soccer At Gallaudet

The Wells College men's soccer team suffered another overtime defeat as the Express fell by a 3-2 score at Gallaudet University on Saturday, Sept. 29. The host Bison scored in overtime to claim the victory in the North Eastern Athletic Conference match at Washington, D.C.

Wells opened the scoring in the first half when Junger Vargas scored in the 20th minute. Christian Garavito slotted a pass for Vargas, who finished with a low shot into the right corner of the goal. The Express held a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Gallaudet tied the score with a goal in the early minutes of the second half, but Wells went back ahead when the same two players connected for the second time in the game. This time, Vargas assisted on a goal by Garavito in the 62nd minute. It was the seventh goal of the year for Garavito.

The Bison tied the score less than two minutes later, and scored in the sixth minute of overtime to claim the victory.

It was the fifth time this season that Wells has lost a match in overtime, and the sixth one-goal loss on the year for Wells.

Colton Jaquith had four saves for Wells.

The Express is 2-8-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the NEAC. Gallaudet is 4-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the conference. Wells is back in action Sunday, Sept. 30 at Lancaster Bible College.
