Late Rally Bests Wells Men's Soccer Team

The Wells College men's soccer team conceded two late goals and fell by a 2-1 score to visiting Penn College on Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Wells Turf Field.

After a scoreless first half, Wells broke through in the 54th minute. Christian Garavito took a short pass and lofted a shot from 30 yards over the goalkeeper and under the crossbar. It was the ninth goal of the year for Garavito, which leads the team.

Wells maintained its advantage until the final 15 minutes of the match. Penn College tied the score with 15:06 remaining and scored the game-winning goal with 7:33 left to play.

Wells held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks, while Penn College had an 11-9 advantage in shots. Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith made six saves.

Penn College is 6-7-1 overall and 6-4-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 4-12-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the NEAC.

Wells finishes its season with a Senior Day home game against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
