Men's Soccer Drops One-Goal Game On Senior Day

The Wells College men's soccer team concluded its 2018 season with a one-goal loss at home to SUNY Cobleskill. The Fighting Tigers won 3-2 at the Wells Turf Field on Saturday, Oct. 27. It was Senior Day for the Express and five Wells seniors were honored in a pregame ceremony.

Wells opened the scoring in the 28th minute. A low cross from the left wing by Justin Bingham picked out Christian Garavito inside of the penalty area. He collected and shot to put the Express up 1-0, just minutes after Cobleskill missed on a penalty kick.

Cobleskill tied the score in the 42nd minute and it was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Cobleskill scored twice in the last 10 minutes of the second half to seize control. The go-ahead goal came with 8:52 remaining and the insurance goal was scored with five minutes left. Wells pulled back within one as Michael Bove played Garavito through past the Cobleskill back line and Garavito converted. It was his second goal of the match and 11th goal of the season.

Cam Davis made nine saves as Cobleskill held a 22-9 advantage in shots.

The group of five seniors contributed their time and talents to the program over the last four seasons. This group was part of 32 Wells victories and two playoff appearances in that time. The seniors were Justin Bingham, David Calvache, Cam Davis, Curtis Davis, and Pete Paluch.
