UTICA DIVES OVER EXPRESS

Utica, NY– The Utica College men's and women's swim team jumped out to a 50 point lead with their dive team before the swim portion of the night even began as the Wells College Express men's team fell 136-129, while the women's team was defeated 160-107 on Wednesday night in Utica.

Despite being down by 32 points after the diving portion, Wells does not sponsor diving; the men were still able to fight back out scoring the Utica swim team by 25 points on the evening and closing the gap to just 7 points overall. Jeffrey Dick led the men's team with three first place finishes in the 50 Yard Breaststroke (31.59), 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:08.43), and 100 Yard IM (1:03.99), while helping to lead the 200 Yard Medley Relay Team (1:51.56) to a first place finish. Rounding out the men's action was Chris Guard with a first place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle (13:34.86), Drew Teter in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:00.56), and Anthony Monachino in the 500 Yard Freestyle (6:28.63).   

In women's swimming action Jackie Ross finished first in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:08.94) and the 50 Yard Butterfly (31.11) while Idolyn Villiotti also had two first place finishes in the 50 Yard Backstroke (33.99) and 100 Yard Backstroke. 

The women's swim team will next take to the pool at home against the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday, November 14th at 1:00 pm while the men's team will join the women's team on Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 pm against SUNY Cobleskill in Cobleskill, NY.
