BENGALS' QUICK START OVERPOWERS EXPRESS

(Buffalo, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's and women's swimming teams each fell to Buffalo State by a score of 111-60 and 98-56 respectively Friday evening in Buffalo. The Bengals won the first three events on the men's side and the first nine events on the women side to earn the evening sweep.
 
In men's action, Matt Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) and Drew Teter (Campbell, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) earned the only two first place finishes for the Express. Sleezer placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.76 while Teter took first in the 200 yard I.M. with a time of 2:20.21. Chris Guard (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) placed third in the 1000 yard freestyle with a personal best time of 12:47.66.
 
In women's action, Gabby Spencer (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) placed 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.51 and 2nd in the 100 yard freestyle with a time 1:00.95. Gwenn Lillie (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) took 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle touching the wall with a time of 6:53.30, while Erika Bareiss (Clinton, N.Y./Westmoreland) rounded out the top finishers for the Wells women with a second place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 3:13.38.
 
The women's swim team returns to the pool on Jan. 19 when they travel to Morristown, N.J. to take on the College of St. Elizabeth at 6 p.m., while the men's team will be out of the pool until Jan. 19 when the travel to Pennsylvania to take on Mansfield University and Pitt-Bradford in a double-dual meet set to begin at 1 p.m.
