MEN'S SWIMMING DROWNS WILDCATS

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming team earned a hard fought 56-49 victory over the Cazenovia College Wildcats in a dual meet held at William Smith College on Saturday afternoon in Gevena, N.Y.

 

Matt Sleezer  (Gloversville, N.Y.) led the Express earning three first place finishes. Sleezer helped lead the 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Ian Ronan (West Falls, N.Y.), Taylor Dunn (Williamstown, Mass.), and Zachary Dvornicky-Raymond (Hector, N.Y.) to a first place finish with a time of 4:25.39, placing the relay team 4th All-Time in the event at Wells. Sleezer also earned two individual first place finishes in the 50 Yard Freestyle (22.83) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (51.70).

 

Dunn also earned a first place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:00.33, while Dvornicky-Raymond earned a first place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, improving his 2nd All-Time pace with a time of 1:08.74.

 

Chris Guard (Lewiston, N.Y.) earned a second place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:37.35, and also placed second in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:32.46 moving him to 5th All-Time at Wells in the event.

 

Thomas Laier's (East Nassua, N.Y.) second place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:09.25) earned him the 5th All-Time spot at Wells, while Alex Lamphear's (Springfield, Ohio) third place finish in the same event earned the 9th All-Time spot at Wells with a time of 1:14.95.

 

The Express will now have a two week break before traveling to SUNY Cobleskill on February 17 for the three day North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimming Championship in Cobleskill, N.Y.
