Fischetti, Sleezer Net First Place Finishes In Loss To Pitt.-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – Despite first place finishes from senior captain Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) and junior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.), the Wells College men's swimming program posted a loss to the host Panthers of the University of Pittsburgh – Bradford on Saturday.

Sleezer started the scoring early for Wells, placing first for the Express in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:59.93. Junior Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) followed Sleezer, placing second with a time of 2:13.09. Freshman Lucas Donnenwirth (Frankfort, N.Y.) followed with a fourth place finish (2:35.36) in the event.

Fischetti earned a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, completing the event with a time of 26.24 to finish a full two seconds ahead of three Panthers swimmers. Sleezer earned an additional first place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing nearly 14 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer with a time of 52.29.

To round out the day's events, the foursome of Lamphear, Donnenwirth, Sleezer and Fischetti posted a first place time of 4:02.26 in the 400 Yard Freestyle.

The Express return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 21 as they face-off against the Pioneers of Alfred State College in a 6:00 p.m. road meet.
