Men's Swimming Captures Fourth At SUNY Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. Senior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) racked up a first place finish alongside two second place finishes as the Wells College men's swimming team placed fourth amongst six schools at the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational on Saturday. Wells collected 151 total points while the host Broncos from SUNY Delhi claimed first place with 260 team points.

Fischetti's first event of the day, the 200 Yard Freestyle, saw a second place finish (2:07.03) to trail the race leader by just under two seconds. In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Fischetti turned in a time of 1:04.27 to collect 13 points for the men's team, finishing only 4.50 seconds behind the race leader. In the 500 Yard Freestyle, however, Fischetti netted his team's first top finish with a time of 5:55.11 to collect 16 points in the event.

Senior Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) also had a strong day for Wells, capturing fifth place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:09.32, narrowly missing third place by .32 seconds. He trailed only Fischetti in the 500 Yard Freestyle later in the competition, posting a time of 5:57.52.

Freshman Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.05 and later turned in a fourth place time of 56.74 in the 100 Yard Freestyle.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Dec. 6 as they face-off against Gallaudet and SUNY Cobleskill at the latter's campus. The triangular meet will kick off promptly at 1 p.m.
