Men's Swimming Ranked In NEAC Preseason Poll

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming team was ranked in the first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Preseason Poll, announced early Thursday afternoon. The final rankings were determined following a poll of the league's four head coaches.

The Express were voted to finish fourth in the conference, earning five total votes. Last season, Wells had several first-year student-athletes make significant impacts and will look to carry over its success in the team's 10th season of competition in 2015-16. The team will look to secure the program's third NEAC Championship title in its brief history.

Wells concluded the 2014-15 NEAC Championship meet in third place, finishing with 337 points against the four team field. At the conclusion of the event, men's swimmers from Wells combined to post 20 career-best times and the squad rewrote major portions of the record books with 14 different times within the top-10 in team history. The Express also placed third or better 12 times across the 38 event schedule, earning NEAC All-Conference honors with each instance.

At the league championship, two team records were set, including Owen May's (Warsaw, N.Y.) 1,650 Yard Freestyle time of 19:11.12 on the final day of competition and Alex Lamphear's '15 500 Yard Freestyle time of 5:20.46 on the first day.

The Express open up their season on Saturday, Oct. 17 as they will participate in the annual Hartwick Relays in Oneonta, N.Y.
